WITH ANNA’S victory came his comrades' downfall or so it seems as Kiran Bedi and Om Puri would have a privilege motion against them. Both have been named in the motion and will face a privilege motion in the parliament for badmouthing members of parliament. The motion will involve a discussion in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
On Friday, Om Puri, the character actor seemed to lose it as he made his speech wherein he called Members of Parliament crass, useless and uneducated. To quote him, “Most of the parliamentarians are illiterate, 'ganwar' (rustic) and 'naalayak' (useless). Look at the way they fight with each other. They throw chairs, mikes at each other.” As his speech got more and more personal on the stage of the Ramlila Maidan, a volunteer had to escort him away.
As everyone can have their 'bad' or 'over-enthisiastic' moments, the actor, who appeared much calmer in a discussion on IBN7, on Sunday, apologised for his words.
Kiran Bedi, also, in her various speeches on the stage in Ramlila Maidan called politicians double faced and criminals. She also took an aim at the BJP members, who later joined the movement. In one of her speeches she said, “Our politicians are hiding behind a mask. They think and speak. There has been no lathi-charge till now because of Anna. We don't know what will happen after he goes. Till now, Delhi Police is with us, but if they get any demands, we don't know what will happen. We have been tolerating for the past 60 years, how much more do we tolerate?"
The privilege motion was passed by Rajya Sabha Members Ram Gopal Yadav (Samajwadi Party) and Mohammed Adeeb (Independent) on Saturday for attacking parliamentarians.
