Priyanka Chopra's 'In my City' album has nothing of her city
Agreed that Priyanka Chopra is a debutante singer and when she released her audio of 'In my city,' it sounded good. Not exceptionally out of the world but good, appropriate and with some promise - but that is the extent of the praise that this desi girl will get for her efforts. The audience had a lot of hopes from her videa of her single but was left disappointed.
We never expected an Indianised Piggy Chopps in the video singing with Will.I.Am. It is an international album by an Indian singer and everyone expected it to be urban but to gyrate in front of a hot car, in a side alley, which clearly looked like some international country was not, according to me, a correct background for an album, which is named 'In my city'. Moreover, right from the very beginning, when Chopra sends her video album to her friends around the world through her Nokia phone, it looks like an advertisement. The rest of the song doesn't change that at all.
I expected a lot from the video as Priyanka Chopra is known to do things different and spectacular. She did make the video different but it was short of being spectacular and too wannabe. The fringes, dark Kohl, lipsticks, hot pants and boots looked as if see was trying too hard. Inspite of all this, the song is not bad. The lyrics are good for a first album, and we still expect Chopra to deliver something spectacular in her next singles album. After all, she must get credit for being the actor who opened new avenues for herself at the global stage.
