Priyanka Gandhi claims to have no links with her husband Robert Vadra's finances
Gandhi's office issued a statement after queries by a journalist. Priyanka said that she had purchased five acres of agricultural land in Amipur village of Faridabad six years prior to the alleged "land deal involving Skylight Hospitality". The statement also said that the land was purchased for Rs 15 lakh and the payment was made through cheque.

The statement also said that the money for the purchase came from rental income from a property that she had inherited from her grandmother Indira Gandhi.

"The source of funds for this or any other property acquired by Priyanka has no relationship whatsoever with Robert Vadra's finances and/or Skylight Hospitality and no relationship whatsoever with (reality firm) DLF," the statement said.

The statement also said that the collector rate for agricultural land in Amipur on the date of purchase was Rs 3 lakh per acre.

"Priyanka paid stamp duty of four per cent (applying to women purchaser of rural agricultural land) totalling Rs 60,000," the statement said.

As per the statement issued by Gandhi's office, she resold the land to the original vendor on 17 February, 2010, for Rs 80 lakh, and the payment mode for this transaction also was cheque.

The statement comes after Justice SN Dhingra Commission concluded that Robert Vadra, Priyanka Gandhi's husband and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law made unlawful profits of Rs 50.5 crore from a land deal in Haryana in 2008.

The Commission was set up in 2015 by Manohar Lal Khattar government to investigate the grant of licences for change in land use in Gurgaon and under the scanner of the committee was Robert Vadra's company, Skylight Hospitality.
