Problems of adolescence 13 August, 2016
Adolescence is the time of life when the human body goes through many physical (hormonal) and emotional changes. This word is so frequently used and associated with troubles that there is a tendency to make "adolescence" synonymous with disease. - Paul J. Poinsard

One of the main purposes of adolescence is to develop and achieve one own sense of self. This is that part of one's life in which he/she gets friendly with people of his/her own age because of the simple reason that they too are going through the same changes.

Smita was fourteen when she realized that something was different about her than the girls of her age. She felt secluded and then after a few years when puberty finally struck her, Smita couldn’t feel back her old self, something was definitely wrong!

Her parents and relatives would not let her do certain things for few days of every month. She did not feel good about herself. There was a time when she used to find it difficult to accept the changes in her friends, now the same is happening to her.

Like Smita there must be many girls who went through these uncertainties and changes and name them as weird, absurd, worthless. But these changes are part of life. We need to accept them and we have to go with the flow!

Loving ourselves and accepting the changes!

Anxieties, depression, mixing up with bad peer group which eventually leads to indulgence in drugs, smoking, alcohol are some pessimistic effects that the teens get into! The roles of elders are imperative. These years are also the best years of life!

Teen years are that time of life when either one is in his/her highest good (because they accept themselves) or the lowest (because they can't cope with the changes).

It is scientifically approved that the brain capacity to learn the difficult of things are most easily done during this period. Teens should concentrate on their aspirations and long term goals.

Not only these changes create uncertainties in girls, it happens in boys as well. This is the time when the young adults should be frank to their parents or the elders at there home.

The parents need to show special concern to their children by giving them nutritious diet, make them do exercises and maintain hygiene.

An adolescent should accept and love the changes that is happening because it is a way of growing which is called life!
