The Assam Gana Parishad has demanded for the CBI investigation since a long time, but the state government did not pay any attention on the subject. But after the Central government's pressure, the state government allowed for CBI investigation.
The Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) organized a mass protest in every district headquarters of Assam today. Like the other districts, the AGP workers of Nagaon along with the former CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP MLA Girindra Kumar Baruah and other senior leaders also marched a protest rally in the town on Monday. The rally started from the district AGP office and touches each corner of the town and marched to the deputy commissioner’s office. The rally raised various anti government slogans related with the NC Hill’s 1000 crores financial scam. Talking to the media, the former CM told that the present Gogoi led government should allow the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate in all the departments of NC Hill. He alleged that the present congress government has only granted permission for the investigation in 5 departments. This limitation would never be fruitful to find out the corrupted leaders & officers involved in the scam. He further added that Tarun Gogoi should not speak anything according to Nandi & Bhingi.
When the media persons questioned him that to whom Mahanta referred as Nandi & Bhingi, he told that the people of Assam understand very well to whom he referred to as Nandi & Bhingi.
It should be mentioned that Tarun Gogoi on his visit to Nagaon yesterday spoke in a public meeting that if any one among his council of ministers were found guilty and involved with the scam, he would definitely take action. Before that the AGP should not make any comment against the ministers. As a reply to this, Mahanta said “Tarun Gogoi has given permission for CBI enquiry to 5 departments only, why not to all ? ” He further added that the AGP has demanded for the CBI investigation from a long time, but the state government did not pay any attention on the subject. But after the Central government’s pressure, the state government allowed for CBI investigation. “So on this ground the party has organized this mass protest rally and demands for the proper investigation of the scam and to punish the culprits involved in this financial scam”, Mahanta told. The AGP also demanded to control the price hike of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders in the state. At the end, a memorandum was submitted to Prime minister of India through the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon.
