TO prevent any communal flareup in the trouble torned Kashmir valley, the police has arrested two miscreants allegedly involved in chopping off the hair of a Sikh youth. This incident sparked massive protests by Sikh community across the state and hundreds of community members staged a protest in Avantipora on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
As per information, pro-freedom protesters allegedly beat up Mithunpal Singh, an employee of Border Roads Organisation after he refused to recite the Kalma as was asked by the protesters. Although the Sikh youth is said to have agreed to raise some slogans but his refusal to recite the Kalma enraged the protesters, who later chopped off his hair.
The angry Sikh community today held a protest march and blocked Digiana area of Jammu apart from blocking Tral on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Kashmir. Shafaqat Watali, DIG, south Kashmir, said that the Sikh community has been assured of rapid action and the perpetrators of this crime will be brought to justice.
