Protesters, police clash hurts nine in Kashmir shutdown
The Kashmir shutdown today turned violent after protesters clashed with the police in Maisuma And Lal Chowk areas in Srinagar. The police used teargas and a lathi charge to disperse the crowds. About nine people were injured, including a 14 year old.
JAMMU AND Kashmir saw the ire of the people as protesters turned violent today on Friday, December 11. The state which is witnessing a shutdown today, after separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for one, in protest against occupation of private lands by the army.

Schools and colleges were closed in Srinagar and the streets remained empty too, with shops closed. There were also clashes between the protesters and the police in Maisuma and Lal Chowk areas, after the latter tried to stop the protesters from taking out a rally. Teargas had to be used to disperse the crowds after the locals started pelting stones on the police.

Till now, nine people have been reported as injured, including a 14 year old youth. The boy, identified as Faizan was injured when the police started a lathi charge and pelted the crowds with teargas. Doctors stated that he had several abdominal injuries and his condition is critical.
