PSLV C31 successfully launches IRNSS-1E into the orbit, President congratulates scientists
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi have congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for yet another successful launch of PSLV-C31. The launch on January 20 carried IRNSS-1E, India's fifth navigation satellite as a major step towards having operational independent regional navigational satellite system.

Mukherjee in his message while congratulating A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman of ISRO and his team said that the launch marked an important landmark in our space programme and demonstrated India's capabilities in space launch technology. 

"This will help to provide real-time data on the position of objects to aid road, air and maritime traffic apart from providing mapping and tracking services. The nation is proud of this achievement," he added.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi spoke to the scientists at ISRO and congratulated them on the successful launch of PSLV C31 and putting IRNSS 1E in orbit precisely. "Our scientists keep making us proud", tweeted Modi.

A release of ISRO states, "Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its 33rd flight (PSLV-C31), launches IRNSS-1E, the fifth satellite of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS). The launch took place from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. As in the previous four launches of IRNSS satellites, PSLV-C31 uses 'XL' version of PSLV. This is the eleventh time 'XL' configuration was flown."
