MEMBERS OF Poorva Sainik Seva Parisad, Jamshedpur have criticised the amendments in the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The amendments curb the rights of officers of armed forces.
At a time when terrorism is growing, such amendments would only hamper their efforts to curb terrorist acts; it would also affect the motivation of the armed forces, they said.
They claimed that those championing human rights do not know the problems that armed forces face. There is no one to champion the causes of the armed forces, they added. They demanded that the matter should be discussed in the parliament. They said that the PSSP would make plans for demonstrations if the amendments are not retracted.
