Pt. Bal Mukand Sharma, former cabinet minister breaks silence
Pt. Bal Mukand Sharma, a former cabinet minister in Punjab during the Congress' period, has broken his silence after a long time. This has probably something to do with the change of Congress leadership in the state.

He said that there is a great resentment among the employees of the government on account of not getting the salary for the last two-three months. He appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal to immediately release the salary of the employees.

Stating that a number of recent incidents in Punjab, like the beating of a woman by the police officials in Taran Taran, killing of ASI of Punjab Police in Amritsar, and thrashing of one senior police officer in Ludhiana by the Akali leaders, have stigmatized the law and order situation in the state.

He further said that because of wrong policies of the Punjab Government led by SAD-BJP, there is a ban on mining of sand, with the result, labour and skilled-labour category classes are badly affected and land-mafia is holding the sand, bajri in their own hands. The government is a total failure on the development front and to remove the unemployment, he alleged. Instead of making false commitments, the government should move on the right path, he added.

Sharma congratulated the appointment of Partap Singh Bajwa as new president of PPCC by the Congress High Command and said that the Congress party in Punjab would be stronger under his leadership.
