A BOMB blast at a restaurant in Pune, Maharashtra has killed eight people and left 33 wounded. The blast took place at the German Bakery, a popular eatery in Koregaon Park, Pune, near the Osho Ashram.
The blast took place around 7:00 PM at the German Bakery on North Main road. The eatery was packed with diners and witnesses have reported bodies all around at the tragic scene. Many of those injured at the eatery are reportedly foreigners.
A worker at the restaurant, Vinod Dhale said, "We heard a big noise and we all rushed out. The impact was so much that there were tiny body parts everywhere."
Union Home Secretary GK Pillai said, "According to the state police and Intelligence Bureau a bomb blast took place at a bakery in Pune. An unattended package was spotted by one of the waiters at the bakery who tried to open the bag when it exploded."
He also stated that a team of National Investigative Agency (NIA) officials and a CBI team are on way to Pune to investigate the bomb blast.
The injured persons have been admitted to Sasoon, Jahangir and Inlack Budharani hospitals.
ATS officials were at the scene of the bomb blast and have started their investigation in it. This is the first major terror strike in the country after the tragic Mumbai terror strike on 26/11.
