Pune to host seminar on "Literature into Film: A Revolution in the Making"
Pune is going to host a national level seminar on "Literature into Film: A Revolution in the Making" on 11 and 12 February, which will be organised by the Department of English of Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce in the city.
The keynote addresses at the conference will be delivered by Tom Alter, who is a world renowned film and theater personality, informed the event organisers.

The purpose of the seminar is to analyze the adaptation and appropriation of literary text in cinema and highlight the adulteration of the text in pursuit of entertainment and popularity.

The topics related to film theories; perspectives on cinematic representation; gender issues; regional issues; identity crisis; folklore, historical depiction; folklore; aesthetics; impact of modern technology; adaptation of text and authenticity issues, etc., will be taken up during the seminar.

I think that the filmmakers need to do intensive research for understanding a contextual and theoretical basis of the textual material to both educate and entertain the audience.
