In such a situation, the Punjab Congress demands compensation for loss to the industrial units. The agriculture sector too is affected due to shortage of power and demands Rs. 5000 per acre compensation to the farmers.
In the memorandum, it is further stated that the rising unemployment, wide spread drug addiction, closure of industries and unsympathetic business environment, mis-governance and corruption in every government department, rising burden of taxes on common man without cut in government's extravagant expenses has forced Congress legislators to agitate on the streets of Punjab to highlight the urgent issues which need to be redressed by Punjab Govt. on priority basis.
The unemployed youths are becoming victim of drugs and have been exposed during the various surveys about the seriousness of the problem. The Congress has disclosed the receipt of Rs.90 lakh through 'hawala' with proofs and it is necessary bring truth on surface. Without any further loss of time, the drug smuggling inquiry should be handed over to CBI by withdrawing the Revenue Minister from the state Cabinet, for impartial inquiry. Akali-BJP now cannot make any excuse of CBI as Congress Bureau of Investigation.
Talking about the corruption as another issue of serious concern, it is alleged in the memorandum that one cannot get his work done in government offices without purchasing the services. Even the Suvidha Centres have become the dens of corruption. There is a need to clean-up the system at every level and it has to be started from the monopoly of Badal family.
It is further alleged that Badal government has failed to fulfill its promises and claims, economy is in worst condition and the loan amount has crossed Rs 1.16 lakh crore.
