QS Rankings of world universities released, no Indian university in top 100
In the QS annual world university rankings published today, no Indian University was able to secure a position in the list of top 100 universities. The MIT has maintained its top rank in the list of 2015-16.
According to annual league tables, Harvard University has bagged the second position this year while it had ranked fourth last year. Four London-based universities come in the top 50 list to give the UK status of world class higher education provider.

China's three universities have come in the top 50 list. On the other hand, India has been left far behind with Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, being ranked at No. 147 and 179 respectively.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated IISc, Bangalore and IIT, Delhi for figuring in the top 200 in the QS World University Rankings.

According to Mukherjee, India has outstanding and inherent talent and it's institutions have the potential to be the best, provided they can apply themselves to the task of improving quality.
