On August 13, 2010, the Spandan Communications in association with Saba Comm Productions and flaMbe entertainment has organised a delightful 10th evening of 'Raag Rang'- a series of Indian classical music concerts.
LIVING UP to its name of promoting and reviving Indian classical music, Spandan Communications in association with Saba Comm Productions and flaMbe entertainment organised a delightful 10th evening of ‘Raag Rang’- a series of Indian classical music concerts on August 13, 2010. Held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, the concert showcased the debut performance by Swaraansh Mishra.
Accompanied by Suhail Yusuf Khan on the sarangi and Shubh Maharaj on the tabla, Swaraansh mesmerised the listeners with Raag Malkos, Raag Megh and a song composed by him on Sawan. Swaraansh Mishra comes as the sixth generation with the lineage of 350 years of classical music belonging to the great Banaras Gharana. His father Pandit Sajan Mishra is the most renowned classical vocalist of the living legends, ‘Padam Bhushan Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra’.
The evening witnessed the great talents of younger generation belonging to the family of legendary musicians. Swaraansh Mishra, grandson of Pandit Birju Maharaj, Suhail Yusuf Khan, grandson of Ustad Sabri Khan and Shubh Maharaj grandson of Pandit Kishan Maharaj. “Raag Rang evenings are organised with the sole purpose of taking the world closer to the heritage of India’s classical music and I am sure today’s performance has succeeded in doing just that. Indian classical music and dance is one of the biggest treasures and the entire nation should value its richness and diversity,” said Anshuman Jain, director, Saba Comm Productions. Also present in the gathering were Pandit Birju Maharaj, Pandit Rajan Mishra, Pandit Sajan Mishra, Ritesh Mishra, Rajneesh Mishra, Anshuman Pandey, Deepak Gupta, Masoom and Sada Thakur, Sunanda Sharma, Saswati Sen, V S Kapoor, Sarthi Chatterjee, Rekha Surya among others.
