Race for PSPCL director posts hots up
The post of Director HRD is lying vacant after the expiry of term of H D Seth, last incumbent, and Director Distribution is lying vacant after the resignation of Arun Verma. The state government had advertised the two posts last month and a number of serving and retired Engineers -in -Chief and Chief Engineers have applied for these posts.

For the post of Director HRD, three most strong contenders are I M Singh, S K Arora and MP Pandove. I M Singh is the senior most Engineer-in-Chief with MBA and presently serving in PSERC. S K Arora is Engineer-in- Chief HRD. M P Pandove is chief of Administration but his association with opposition party is a hindrance but one never knows what will happen in the politics.

For the post of Director Distribution, S S Sarna,  Engineer-in-Chief Distribution (North) has got the maximum experience of 24 years. V K Gupta, retired Engineer in-Chief  is another strong contender with the backing of a senior bureaucrat. Gurdas Dhaliwal, Chief Engineer Distribution  (West) at Bhatinda, though low in seniority, has got right political backing. Another Chief Engineer Gurpal Singh, though short of requisite 10 years experience in distribution system experience by few months, is at serial number 11 on PSPCL seniority list is a favorite of present CMD.

This may be added that in case Gurdas Dhaliwal or Gurpal Singh  is taken as Director Distribution  it will break the present rule of appointing members on seniority cum merit  basis. The present CMD and other Directors were appointed by Punjab Government strictly by this principle.
