Rafael Nadal wins career grand slam, defends ace rival Roger Federer
After the win, Nadal said it was a dream for him to win the career grand slam and it is an unbelievable feeling because he had worked throughout his life and has been through difficult moments to reach where he was.
RAFAEL NADAL on Monday successfully completed his career Grand Slam to join the elite list of six other players, who have had their names engraved in the history of tennis by clinching all four Grand Slam titles. Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic by 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and gave an impression of a wrestling match being fought on court rather than a tennis world championship.

With this win, the Spaniard not only conquered Flushing Meadows but also defended his most favoured on court rival, Roger Federer. Quashing media reports that he is now better than Federer, Nadal said that the Swiss holds 16 Grand Slam titles. It might seem to a sports enthusiast that Nadal is not just walking along with his contemporaries, but sprinting even though there is a difference of 7 Grand Slam titles and 5 years between Nadal and Federer.

After the win, Nadal said it was a dream for him to win the career grand slam and it is an unbelievable feeling because he had worked throughout his life and has been through difficult moments to reach where he was.

Although it may be agreed that Nadal had a safe ride up to the finals, he stood the test of time when he sensed Djokovic was overpowering him during the second set. Novak Djokovic has a history of defeating Nadal on various occasions. Nadal's backhand was not as supportive as it used to be given the vulnerability levels that Nadal was exposed to while playing against Djokovic.
