Rahul Dravid 'The Wall' deserved Padma Bhushan
Rahul Dravid has this uncanny habit of being in the limelight only for the right reasons. The Padma Bhushan award is the third highest civil award in the country, and it has been conferred to a man who epitomizes everything best in cricket is a recognition for the job well done.

Believe me when I say there is much more than cricket to a man who has lived liked a hermit and worked like a horse - and the statistics only 'humbly' reflect a leviathan number. But mere statistics cannot paint the true character of the man who has been in the canvas for more than a decade.

It is not only the cricketing skills that have been rewarded - it is the camaraderie that he shares with cricket, the discipline with which he was involved with the game, the focus that even the best vouched for, the attitude to die for, and the machismo that can drive girls rogue (though it wasn't taken into account for the award!) - differentiates him from someone who played cricket from someone who lived cricket.

'Mr. Dependable' I think is the title surely bestowed by a girl. But the fact that impresses me the most is the illustrious 16-year international career was without a blemish.

Rahul Dravid never began his innings with a bang but has always been sedate with his methods, which is second to none - a prescription which has sedated the Indian nerves too whenever Mr. Rahul Dravid has occupied the crease.

Dravid is not the man whom you would associate charisma with. In a country teeming with talented hard hitters - Rahul brought an era of a cricket which was orthodox, classy and effective - and at the same time in synchronization with the incumbent cricketing standards, which speaks volumes about the man.

Who cares about 'charisma'- Rahul has a dictionary of his own. The accolade is only a reflection of a man who had the spine to stand tall and took India to respectability more than occasionally. Take a bow master...there is much more to come!!
