Rahul Gandhi caught sleeping in Parliament during debate on Una Dalit incident
In a major embarrassment to Congress party, its Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was seen taking a nap during a heated debate over the Una incident in Gujarat in Parliament on Wednesday. Gandhi was seen dozing off through Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's speech on the same issue in the Lok Sabha.

Notably, the Congress leaders including party's Lok Sabha chief Mallikarjun Kharge and his fellow MPs were protesting over Rajnath's remarks when TV footage inescapably showed Gandhi sleeping.

A huge protest in Gujarat's Una continues against the flogging of Dalit youths on July 11 for allegedly skinning a cow in Gir Somnath district. The men were tied to an SUV, stripped and thrashed with iron rods. As a warning, the cow vigilantes also posted the video of the public flogging on social media.

The victims were attacked by a gau-raksha group and are now being treated at the Rajkot civil hospital. The agitation so far has claimed four lives including a constable who died after getting injured in stone pelting by Dalit mob in Amreli.

The protest intensified with 9 persons attempting suicide. More than dozen of buses were torched and highways were blocked, forcing the State authorities to take strict action.

However, to calm the situation, Gujarat Cheif Minister, Anandiben Patel promised a strict action against the accused and announced that she would soon visit the victims.

The State government has also ordered a criminal investigation into the attack and  said that it would bear the cost of the victims' treatment.

The debate over the same issue was going on in the Parliament today. This is not the first time that Randhi Gandhi has been caught sleeping in the Parliament. Soon after the news broke, Twitteratis started taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi.
