CONGRESS GENERAL secretary Rahul Gandhi reached Mumbai amidst black flag protests by Shiv Sena workers, who were protesting against his 'Mumbai for all Indians' statement. There were clashes at the venues where the Congress leader is supposed to hold meetings and a number of Sena workers were arrested by police.

The protests come after Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray asked the Sainiks to show him black flags to protest his 'Mumbai for all Indians' remark

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi arrived in Mumbai amidst tight security after it became clear that there could be a showdown between Congress and Shiv Sena workers, who clearly want to take on the Congress leader sensing an opportunity for a political tussle.

Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena corporator Rajul Patel was detained by police when he tried to enter the Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle without an invitation. Security has been further tightened after this incident and top police officials are on their toes to ensure a trouble free trip for the Congress general secretary.
