As AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi turns 41 today, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that he is now mature enough to become the country's PM.
CONGRESS SUPPORTERS across the country are today celebrating All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s 41st birthday. On Rahul’s special days, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that according to him the AICC general secretary is now a mature person and has gathered enough experience to take up the PM’s post. Singh noted that Rahul had been working with the party for the last seven-eight years and was not capable enough to become the country’s premier.
Meanwhile, a recently conducted survey by a national news website shows that 46% of Indian citizens prefer Rahul Gandhi over Manmohan Singh as the country’s PM. According to the respondents Rahul would be a better premier. Manmohan Singh was supported by only 34% voters. The survey was conducted from June 12-16 and covered all regions of the country. Also, during the survey 61% of respondents demanded a change in government at the centre. Mainly the urban youth population demanded change in government. Nevertheless, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi was the most favored PM candidate with 53% votes against Gandhi, who was supported by 46%.On the occasion of Rahul’s birthday, Congress supporters in Delhi organized his birthday bash at the party headquarters. They began the celebrations by offering cake to a poster of Gandhi, which was followed by bursting of crackers. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V.Narayanasamy, along with former Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and the Puducherry Pradesh Congress committee (PCC) workers today visited the Manakula Vinayakar shrine to pray for Rahul’s long and happy life. They pulled the golden chariot on the temple premises to mark the celebration.
