Railway Budget 2014 allocates one passenger train for Gurgaon: People react
The Railway budget 2014 made a number of news for India. While the Congress party was not impressed with it, there were some positive reactions to the Modi Government's first rail budget. Gurgaon also got a passenger train- Bikaner to Rewari, which would halt at the Gurgaon station en-route. This is definitely good news for Gurgaon passengers as the less number of trains has been problematic for people, who comes to Gurgaon to work or travel from the millennium city to other places.
Trying to understand what the people of Gurgaon
felt about the new train, we talked to a few representative citizens. Mangat Ram Bagri, Councilor Ward 10, Gurgaon
said, ''can you tell me what would be a better budget then this? Everything has been taken care of- services, cleanliness and food for the people of India. It will take some time to implement, but when it does then conditions would truly signify that we are travelling in Indian railways.'' When asked about the passenger train, which would pass from Gurgaon, he said, '' This is a nice inclusion, made with the thought to help Gurgaon
people. With the increase in the number of passengers, trains would also increase in Gurgaon.''
The two track railway station in Gurgaon is quaint and far removed from the hustle bustle of the main city, but for a large crowd of the city this is the only inexpensive mode of transport daily to and fro work. Thus an addition to the small number of train is definitely an improvement. Talking about, it Ranesh Yadav, member of Adhikar- a social activist group said, ''it is a progressive budget, there is no doubt in it. But my concern is when and how they will implement it as if it remains on paper then these are just words.'' Talking about the Gurgaon railway station he further added, '' the situation of the railway station is really bad. If you visit the place ever, then you will see cows, dogs roaming about the station. People standing in front of the tickets counter but no one to serve them, dirty floors with betel stains on the walls and what not. More trains allocated to the station would force the authorities to improve the situation as more and more people will use the services of the station in Gurgaon.
Talk to a new Gurgaon resident and you would understand that many do not know that Gurgaon also has a railway station. But for people, who travel daily, this service, however dilapidated it is, a boon. Balbir Singh, who earlier was associated with Aam Admi Party Gurgaon said, '' it is a good addition. This train will be good for people with jobs in Gurgaon and people from Delhi would also benefit.''
The railway budget would thus bring a lot of hope of for the people of India and Gurgaon. Although there is just one train, yet this brings a relief for the people.
