Rain is not bad weather for photography, tips for rain pictures
It is a wrong notion that the best pictures can only be taken in ideal weather. Sometimes, water, rain, splashes and mud can make for great photographic portraiture.

RAINS PROVIDE a good opportunity to photograph the surroundings with an impact enhanced by wet surfaces and rain drop splashes. To begin with, try rain photography by standing at a covered surface, house door, house window or car window to add and mood both to your photographs.

A hazy background of the surroundings in gusty rain shower can provide a better contrast for the foreground elements in a composed picture.

The automatic mode of camera tends to over-correct light for cloudy and rainy conditions to give a blurry effect. One must also remember that decreasing the shutter speed due less light caused by the overcast sky can result in more blur.

It is better to control the aperture getting an appropriate depth of field and the amount of light viewed by the camera. Try a wide aperture of f/4 to f/1.4 and correct the lighting by adjusting the camera's ISO sensitivity for photographing during rain. If you are shooting from a covered place use a tripod with timer release.

To capture the sharpest photo possible, it's probably a good idea to bring a tripod to help keep the camera steady. If you have the option of speed light, internal or external, set the camera to the low stops of -2.0 to -3.0. During night streetlights are helpful in highlighting rain by shooting toward the light but not directly into it.
