Raj Thackeray missing while Mumbai burns
It has been three days since Mumbai has been under siege from terrorists. Mumbai has yet to hear anything from this self-proclaimed savior of the city and the caretaker of the “Marathi Manoos”. He is missing when his city needs him the most!
What has shocked the people is the silence being maintained by the MNS chief, who is ready to fight it out on the streets over petty issues. The least that was expected from Thackeray was to come out and speak against the terror and stand with the victims.
His stand against the migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over protecting the interests of the Mumbaikars has forced people to ask questions. They want to know where is Raj Thackeray now.
Angry SMS messages are doing the rounds in the country over the conduct of the MNS chief as well as on blogs people are asking ’where is Raj Thackeray?’
A particular popular message says, “Please forward Raj Thackeray’s phone number, if you have it. Don’t know where he is when you need him. We want to him to go and save Amchi Mumbai along with his MNS hoodlums. The sons of the soil! Army NSG commandos are not Marathi Manoos. Why should they fight or lay their life for Mumbaikars…?”
Taking a dig at the MNS chief Thackeray, who has made life very difficult for the huge migrant population in Mumbai, this SMS makes it very clear that people want an answer from him.
Jagannath, a software engineer, said that Thackeray should have come out with his men and take on the terrorists. “Leaders like Thackeray can torment only innocent and poor people but when the real challenge comes up they just vanish from the scene,” he said, adding, “I want to ask him why he is silent and has not tried to make even a statement against the terrorists.”
Another message doing the rounds in Delhi said, “Where is Raj Thackeray now? Tell him that 200 NSG commandos from Delhi being sent to fight the terrorists. So that he can sleep peacefully in Maharashtra....Please send across….”
A Delhi resident, Satender Kumar, whose cousin works in Mumbai said that it is a strange that MNS workers and leaders did not come out to save their city, while they do not hesitate to hit out against their own countrymen. “I want to ask Raj Thackeray to come out of the hibernation and tell the people what he has been doing for the last three days as Mumbai burnt. Are they capable of beating and threatening only innocent people?” he quipped.
The anger is palpable in Mumbai as well and it is not against Thackeray alone but all the rabble rousing politicians, who play with sentiments of the people. Another Mumbai resident on Skype, who identified himself as ’PAPA’, when asked about Raj Thackeray said, “He must be watching TV,” adding sarcastically, “Ask him and also check on the web.”
Another angry citizen has put an interesting post on his blog which says, “Raj Thackeray, chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has been reported as missing by the citizens of Mumbai for the last 3 days. Here is a description:
Raj Thackeray is the founder and president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (Maharashtra Renaissance Party), which is a regional party in the state of Maharashtra in India. He is especially known for his constant tirade against North Indians residing in Maharashtra. He has led several “violent” movements to ensure Mumbai is freed from North Indians. He is about 5 ft 5 in height and wears glasses.

He was at the same site after the attack was over to see and to give his condolance to the people (Most of The HINDI news channel missed that part out). He and his Party worker also set up a blood donation camp for the victams of the Tragedy. People don't know because he did all that Quitely, he did not made an issue out of it just to get the So called Attention. and please tell me something is this question really make any sence that where was Raj when mumbai was attacked by Terrorist? Non sence it would be same asking like Where was Sachin Tendulkar When Kargil happened. All those who are biased against the "Marathi Manoos" are the real culprits. The non-Maharashtrians in Maharashtra should understand that the locals have created an environment in the state for everyone to live peacefully and succeed based on merit. The reason people come to Maharashtra is because they know they will be better off here than in their home states. They should be proud of Maharashtra and its liberal business environment and politics, but instead all the outsiders do is engage in cronyism (railways being a prime example) at the expense of the locals. Maharashtrians are starting to realise that they have a trojan horse in their midst.

Most Maharashtrians would empathise with the issues raised by Raj but not necessarily with his methods. There is a sense that outsiders coming to Maharashtra are trying to impose their language and culture on the locals while looking down upon the local language and culture. Sooner or later the locals will act to restore the balance. This issue is no longer restricted to Mumbai but spreading fast to the Marathi heartland. Any Maharashtrian politician who does not seem to agree with the issues raised by Raj would be committing political suicide.

As I said in diff forums .. there where MNS ambulances at all sites of attacks helping victims, that?s what his parties? limits are. He kept his mouth shut and showed a restrain, that?s more that enough, unlike ppl like modi and advani, who even at that point busy in political scoring and statements. What Raj did was perfectly fine. He did reached to the ppl through a newspaper "loksatta" (express group). Now if "CJ"s are unaware of this and still busy accusing Raj under the "terror attack" shield, in such an hour .. they are just turning themselves into PJs than CJs ! @ Divya ! plz bash him in public and save this country :) he is without any security now a days :) PS: BTW, raj did visited Taj at the 1st day itself.( but actully it doesnt matter if he did not not. But i say Raj Thakeray is the best Leader Mahasrashtra can have at this moment.
What he did during the Attack, has not even been attempted by any other politicians.
Every pother politician was busy trying to make bold statements in the press.
But Raj was busy working for the Injured and consoling the Matyr's families, all without trying to come in the limelight.
That is what a real leader does.
I am upset that the my north indian press, always tries to show him in the wrong light an does not appreciate his good work.

Raj Thakre was very much seen at the funeral of Late Hemant Karkare. Of course he was saving the asmita of a mumbaikar ! This is exactly what he must be having in mind. Dear Indians,
I agree that politicians are playing games of hatred, applying divide and rule politics. Every time they will raise issues like Hindu rights, Muslim rights, Christians rights, reservation for minorities, for OBC for Marathi for some other community.
Just take a look of these replies, don?t you think when India should compete with world to come out as the most powerful nation, we are electing our leader on the basis of such politics based on religion, cast, language etc. The entire world is becoming a global village and we are still discussing such issues.
Why we keep talking about politicians? How many of us think that 15 years down the line 10% of our population will belong to foreigners because India is the best market available in world and 15% of Indians will go abroad because they offer best employment.
This is the time when we should stop misuse of our votes to help such politicians, who are going to divide our country in small pieces. Vote for young leaders but not on the issues like Hindu rights, Muslim rights, Christian?s rights, reservation for minorities, OBC, Marathi ? non Marathi.
Today they are trying to divide you on this basis if they got success few years down they?ll change there issues. In Hindus, in Muslim?s, in Christian?s, in Marathi, in South Indian, in North Indians they?ll look benefit of majority / Minority group. We?ll keep fighting with each other. No body requires support or reservation or help of such politicians as every one is capable for the same. They should do well for India first, and Indians second.
Ask to politicians what they are doing to create job opportunities? What are their plans for village, city, state, country? Do they even have some plans or they are just looking for votes and money. When we?ll ask them such things I thing some of them will understand that its time to work not to play with sentiments. While raising such issues probably some one among you guys may come with better idea, India come back on the right track.

I dont care what Raj was doing during the attacks. But let me tell you simply why he is not the person for Mumbai and why MNS must not be given support post 26/11. Rational Indians will understand these points.
1. He is divisive figure. The issues he seeks to address may or may not be valid, but his methods are confirmably invalid.
Holding the city to ransom and making threats on soft targets is not constructive in the least.
2. He is a problem maker not a solution seeker. Name one constructive activity taken up by the MNS. Its easier to send some goons to rake up some trouble, much harder to make a determined effort or to solve critical problems in the city.
3. False bravado, empty rhetoric are exactly the things we dont need right now.
Lets unite as Indians and overthrow politicians who try to divide us and lets make sure we elect problem solvers, efficient administers and no-nonsense officials who get the job done.
