Rajan Bala, 63, veteran cricket journalist died on Friday in Bangalore following a prolonged illness. He was also the Indian correspondent of the Wisden cricketer and Wisden Almanac.
Rajan Bala, 63, veteran cricket journalist died on Friday in Bangalore following a prolonged illness. Rajan had turned 63 two days ago and died in a hospital in the Bangalore. Rajan started his career in the mid 1960s and had contributed greatly for several newspapers. He was also the Indian correspondent of the Wisden cricketer and Wisden Almanac for a number of years.
 
Rajan, who had a passion for books had authored half a dozen books with Days Well Spent being his latest book. The book was to be originally launched in bangalore on Saturday but now would be released in Mumbai. The Covers Are Off -A Socio-Historical Study of Indian Cricket :1932-2003, was his last published book.
 
Rajan was not only a renowned cricket writer but was also an icon for the younger generation of journalists of cricket, who followed his works and contributions with great interest. Along with cricket he even had a great knowledge and liking for many other subjects like football, tennis etc.
Rajan had completed his higher studies in London and was a good club level cricketer, who used to bat higher up the order and also bowled off-spin.
