Rajasthan celebrates Ganguar festival with great fanfare and religious fervor
The festival of Gangaur got celebrated in many town of Rajathan including Jaipur and Sardar Shahar. Pushp Jain posted shared a few photographs of the celebration on the social media. In sardar shahar, both men and women celebrated with equal fervor.

In Rajasthan, Gangaur is one of the most  colourful  religious festivals  that is celebrated with gaiety and devotion by womenfolk by worship  Goddess Gauri and  Lord Shiva or Isar.

Jaipur's Ganguar is marked with procession,  bands and dancing which is watched by Indian and foeign tourists.

The images of Gauri and Isar are dressed in new garments especially made for the occasion which are  decorated and carried on the head in processions.

Jaipur's famous Gangaur procession, with the image of Gauri, commences from the Zanani-Deodhi of the City Palace to  passes through Tripolia Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar, Chaugan stadium and finally reachesTalkatora.

Also, the sweet dish called a ghewar is prepared, distributed and eaten on Gangaur festival. 

At  many religious places, the festival  that commences on the first day of chaitra continues for 16 to 18 days with fast by married  for successful married life.  Fairs are also  held throughout the 18-day period. 

Outside Rajastha,  biggest Ganguar festival takes place  in Kolkop which a sizable population of Marwaris. It is said that celebration is now more than 100 years old in the City of Joy.
