Rajasthan govt schools reform initiatives: What's up the sleeves?
While in Ajmer, the Rajasthan State Education Minister, Vasudev Devnani said that from the ensuing academic session, the uniform of the school students will be in the coffee brown and light brown colours.

Boys will report to government schools in coffee brown shirts and light brown pants, while the girls in coffee brown blouses and light brown skirts, it was informed.

Devnani also assured parents for quality education in schools through improved infrastructure, laptops distribution, revised curriculum, saffron-and-pink bicycles distribution, etc.

The common examination system for class V and class VIII has been introduced so that students take studies seriously.

However, serious educationalists believe that quality of education can only be improved through a pedagogically sound curriculum and classroom processes not through externalizations. The previous initiatives based on provision of facilities and freebies have failed, they caution.

The educational research has shown that building capacity of teachers though well designed in-service teacher training and continuous school based support system have led to effective school reforms.

The patch-works and externalizations have invariably failed without addressing the real issues of classroom processes and vitalization of teachers through better training and management system, I feel.
