Rajasthan marks Gandhi Jayanti with massive cleanliness drive in schools
The government schools in Rajasthan marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 with a massive cleanliness drive of the school premises in which reportedly over 50 lakh students participated.

The schools were asked to be a part Prime Minister Narendra Modi's  Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to get  classrooms clean,  plant saplings, hold discussions on Gandhian thoughts and personal hygiene.

According to Rajasthan state education minister Vasudev Devnani, the massive cleanliness drive was the best way to commemorate the birth anniversary of Gandhiji and to fulfil the vision of PM Modi. However, many schools kept the cleanliness drive symbolic.

In other institutions, prayer meetings and collective singing of devotional songs favoured by Gandhiji were held. One such meeting was held at the premises of Rajasthan Adult Education Association in Jaipur.
