Rajasthan state to bring out revised textbooks to instill nationalism among students
Close on the heels of the news that NCERT's textbooks were being evaluated, updated and syllabus being reduced by removing irrelevant content, the Rajasthan State Education Department is going to revamp its textbooks by including the biographies of gods, local heroes and Indian culture in a phased manner.

At a press conference in Jaipur, the state education minister Vasudev Devnani said that the exercise of revising school textbooks was being undertaken to instill a sense of nationalism among students, reported local media.

However, the Congress party has opposed the move saying that the new textbooks were meant to downsize the contributions of the Congress leaders in the freedom struggle and multiculurturalism of Indian society.

Some books were revamped last year and many educators and social activists too had opposed the removal of content of social science textbooks and substituting them with so-called Indian cultural values and specific brand on nationalism.
