Rajasthan to launch Smart Class Education Project on Independence Day eve in Ajmer
Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje is visiting Ajmer for Independence Day celebrations and on August 14, besides her other programmes, Raje is going to inaugurate Smart Class Education Project (SCEP) in the district.

Touted to be one of own kind project in the state, the SCEP is the brain child of the Ajmer district administration that will cover 120 government schools to begin with, it is reported.

However, parents and teachers are keeping their fingers crossed since most education projects in Rajasthan have not done that well to make a dent on the quality of education and schools getting closed since students are shifting to private schools.

It is being felt that the officials had been more interested in created infrastructure and buying materials or hardware and dump them schools. They are hoping that the project will be implemented with proper teacher preparation and a robust support and monitoring system to demonstrate success of the project.

According to Jaipur-based educator Prabha Kishore, a smart school is an institution that is meant to reconstruct systematically teaching-learning and school management to prepare students for Information Age and it requires hard work across the system.

The success of such projects depends on  reinventing school pedagogy to make learning more interesting, motivating, stimulating and meaningfully using the principles and skills of educational technology for which the system requires revamping and not mere purchase and supply of hardware and materials, she added.
