Located in Jaipur which is also called the Pink City of India, The University of Rajasthan is regarded as the oldest institution of education in the state. It was incorporated on January 8th, 1947 as the University of Rajputana with its main objective being imparting quality education amongst the students of Rajasthan and was the only University to have its jurisdiction all across the state. In 1965, the University of Rajputana was renamed as University of Rajasthan keeping its jurisdiction intact. With time, as the number of universities grew, its jurisdiction came down but it still is one of the major center's of education in Rajasthan. Keeping in view its rich heritage and culture, the university attracts many students not only from Rajasthan but also from other parts of the country as well as abroad.
