Rajghat gets makeover for Martyrs' Day observance
On the occasion of the 69th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on January 30 at Rajghat, the venue will be opened to public, visitors and tourists with a makeover.

The inauguration of the venue will be done by Minister of Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu along with the release of a special edition of Rajghat Samadhi Patrika.

"For the first time, a 157 word brief profile of Mahatma and a 131 word description of Gandhi Samadhi have been put on display, both in Hindi and English, at all the three gates of Rajghat," stated an official release.

It is stated that 30 Amrit Vachans – the eternally relevant thoughts of Gandhiji - have been engraved on marble and displayed on granite stone pedestals for inspiring the visitors at Rajghat.

Also, the new pedestals have been designed to merge with the ambiance and architecture of Rajghat and each pedestal illuminated by LED light atop aesthetically designed light post.

As we know that the Martyrs' Day marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on January 30, 1948, by Nathuram Godse.
