Rajinikanth's next film Rana is a much speculated Tamil film, which has Deepika Padukone as one of its lead. The project, which was facing many problems, finally started on 29th April and would be released by 2012.
RAJINIKANTH'S FILM Rana finally started with a pooja on April 29, 2011, in Chennai; Tamil Nadu, in the usual style - in Rajini’s Pillaiyar Temple at AVM Studios. Many film personalities and VIP’s graced the function including Rajini’s Guru K Balachandar.
The function went very well and the script was handed over to K S Ravikumar, the director of the movie Rana. K Balachandar also showered his blessings on the project.A press meet was organized in the evening at around 7 pm at Green Park Hotel, Chennai. The south superstar and the protagonist of the film, Rajinikanth, along with Deepika Padukone, K S Ravikumar and Soundarya Aswin were supposed to attend it. However, due to stress and overwork (as Rajinikanth himself invited all the guests for the pooja), Rajinikanth was not feeling well and had to go for a checkup. It was learnt that he was fine but in the meantime he missed the press conference.
The director, K S Ravikumar took over the press conference and spoke about the film. He confirmed that there were two female leads. Deepika Padukone; the Bollywood actress and the other lead is yet to be selected.Talking about the shoot, he said that the schedule for the highly anticipated movie Rana was 270 days and that the film would be released by 2012. The locations chosen for the shooting are England, Baroda, Hyderabad and Chennai.The south superstar and actor, Rajinikanth, would be playing three roles but the director was not keen on revealing any details of Rajini’s character. Music composer and Oscar winner AR Rahman has already finished a song for the film and he is working on the second song. The movie has 6 songs.Fans are eagerly waiting to watch their superhero on the silver screen again and they want to see him opposite Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone.
