Similarly in Prakash Jha's Rajneeti, Manoj Bajpayee, who is the son of a venerable politician feels sidelined after power shifts from his father, who suffers a paralytic stroke to his uncle.
RAJNEETI PORTRAYS the battle for political supremacy in the Pratap family. The film is like Mahabharata, wherein Duryodhan considered to be the rightful heir of the Kuru legacy has to fight within the family as he has to compete with Pandavs. To change the political equation, he reaches out to Ajay Devgun in order to neutralise his political opponents. However, the entry of Ranbir Kumar as Samar Pratap Singh, who comes on a vacation from New York changes the ballgame altogether. Ranbir guided by the veteran Nana Patekar has an ace up his sleeve for every political trick used by his opponents.
Rajneeti as a film speaks about the political system of India, how it operates, and how the dynasties perpetuate their political power. Rajneeti also depicts the saga of violence, betrayal, crime and use of money to secure power and pelf for oneself. Ranbir Kapoor has delivered a powerful powerful performance as he learns the tricks of political trade faster than his rivals, much to their surprise and discomfiture. He has a lot of people including elder brother Arjun Rampal, his political mentor Nana Patekar and his childhood buddy Katrina Kaif to support him, but in a quintessential God Father style he plans and executes almost singlehandedly. .Movie starts with good pace but it doesnt really shows the actual face of politics and problems of society which is expected from a drama.
It does not give answers to any actual question of the society.
.If you read the basic newspaper, avoid this movie, Rajneeti bcos u already know all this is happening. If you dont read, then it is worthless watching it anyways. Nana Patekar who is good has been sidelined, rest is non sense.

Prakash Zha continues (or even exceeds) his good work in Gangajal, Apaharan..
Nana, Ajay also continue their good works..
But the really show-stiller is Ranbir Kapoor! This smart, handsome actor is not only comfortable in a challenging role, but has even exceeded Nana and Ajay with his charisma!!
I will give it 4 out of 5! Must watch!!

.not up to the expectations, the movie only revolves around all the cliche in Indian Politics talked by the general public. It is a caricature of Indian politics stuffed with all kinds of masala. it sure entertains but it was all so obvious, predictable. Who doesn't know about what has been served. Not very impressed with Jha.

.rajneeti is a nice movie where director prakash jha has shown about the indian poltics & what happen in its beyonds. every one have shown great acting . but specially manoj bajpei & ranvir kapoor have done such a real acting .i feel proudy prakash jha for his excellent direction.a must watch for everone.

.I would have liked you to include a brief on the director, comaprison with his other works on political theme like Apharan, Gangajal etc. A flat story is not a review and with such a wide readership you have, I would expect to give a note on cinematography, choreography, music and characterization!
A film has many things other than story! Story is just a part of the big structure!

.aftr a very long time, Rajneeti is must must must watch for every movie lovers..a complete entertainer, with mind blowing performance by all actr...specially Ajay & Manoj given just fantastic & fabulous effort...both of them should recieved no. of awards this year.
bad luck friend, the cheap filmfare and screen kinds are reserved for third graders, but u liked the film and surely do i, it is their best earned and true award man
