Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of India's leading telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. Mr Upadhyay has joined BSNL today.

MR. RAKESH Kumar Upadhyay was the Chairman and Managing Director of TCIL (Transport Corporation of India Limited.) before being appointed as CMD of BSNL.

The new CMD of BSNL comes with an impeccable record as a turnaround specialist. Undoubtedly, his priority would be to manage the turnaround of the loss-making BSNL.

His appointment to carry out this large-scale exercise also comes with high expectations. Mr. Upadhyay, as CMD of BSNL, will probably face his toughest challenge in the fiercely competitive telecommunications market while reversing the fortunes of a company that has far-flung reach when it comes to providing telecommunications services in the length and breadth of the country.

Mt Upadhyay’s appointment has sent out a positive signal to lakhs of customers of BSNL as well as its competitors.
