Rakhi has finally put the 'varmala' around Elesh Parujanwala in the much awaited finale of the reality show "Rakhi ka Swayamvar".The channel NDTV Imagine had been airing the series which had 26 episodes that saw 16 contestants vying for Rakhi.
ON Sunday night, India's hot favorite item girl Rakhi Sawant chose 30-year-old Elesh Parujanwala, an NRI from Toronto, Canada to be her life partner. She made decision in the finale of the the much awaited reality show. The channel NDTV Imagine had been airing the series “Rakhi ka Swayamvar” which had 26 episodes that saw 16 contestants vying for Rakhi's hand, for the past one month. In the last round, Rakhi made her choice from the three finalists- Manas Katyal, a 22-year-old aspiring event manager from New Delhi, Chittiz Jain who also resides in New Delhi and Elesh Parujanwala.

The event took place in Mumbai’s Hotel Leela Kampinsky; Ram Kapoor and Ravi Kishen were hosts for the evening and also posed as the bride’s brothers. Other celebrities like choreographer Saroj Khan, who taught most of the grooms how to dance, Smita Bansal, Sudha Shivpuri, were part of the hosting party. Rakhi was looking gorgeous, very much like an ‘Apsara’ decked up in a gold and red lehnga-choli specially designed by Neeta Lulla. Her beautiful kundan jewellery was exquisite and made her look like the perfect bride. Not far behind were the three grooms who were also dressed to kill in traditional ‘sherwanis’ and ‘turbans’. The scene was a typical one with the families of the three grooms fully dressed for the occasion and ready to welcome the bride-to-be. They left their respective places, with every family thinking they would bring back Rakhi as their son’s bride.

It took little time for Rakhi to decided upon Elesh as her life partner and she placed the garland around his neck. She had the following words for Elesh,“I have been watching Elesh from day one, on and off the camera, and he has been the same all the time, and has really taken care of me. He is everything I was looking for and I am glad to have found him on the ‘Swayamvar’ as my life partner.” Though the marriage in the real sense did not take place; only rings were exchanged and both Rakhi and Elesh expressed the need to spend more time with each other. Rakhi said,“Today is our engagement and though I am ready to get married now, we need to understand each other better off-camera. We have seen each other on camera, but he needs to see and know me off camera, to see me without make up, so that tomorrow he does not say – who are you! We will soon get married in front of all of you and keep all our traditions”.

After the final ring ceremony, the Parujanwala family came onto the stage and blessed the couple, with sister Brinda and Elesh’s cousin even singing a few lines to entertain the large audience. Thereafter people from the audience consisting of celebrities and the TV stars, made a queue to wish the couple before leaving the hotel. “Rakhi ka Swayamvar” drew to a close with Rakhi finally announcing and choosing her groom before the whole country, who had been glued to their TV sets every night for a whole month.
