Ram Jethmalani writes scathing letter to Justice Karnan, asks him to apologise
"If you do not know the enormity of your madness, do meet me and I might put some sense in your head," said Jethmalani in a letter to Justice Karnan.

Advising Calcutta High Court Judge Justice CS Karnan, senior advocate and Rajya Sabha member Ram Jethmalani has written to him advising him not to destroy the judiciary, apologise and to end his flurry of allegations.

The Supreme Court (SC) had recently issued bailable warrant against justice Karnan for failing to appear before it despite repeated summons.

The warrants were issued by a Bench of seven senior-most judges led by the Chief Justice of India JS Khehar. The warrants have been issued in a suo motu contempt case against Justice Karnan's scathing remarks against the judicial institution as well as fellow judges.

The SC had directed the DGP, West Bengal, to personally serve the warrant on the judge and ensure his presence before it on the next date of hearing, March 31.

In a sharp worded letter, dated March 11, written on the official letterhead as an MP, Jethmalani said, "I am sorry to tell you that I am convinced you have lost your mind. Your behaviour is that of a lunatic and some day that may be the only defence available to you though with no bright change of success."

Jethmalani has asked Justice Karnan to withdraw his allegations & complaints and ask for pardon.

"As a senior member of the Bar and living in the departure lounge of God's airport I am advising you to withdraw every word that you have uttered and humbly pray for pardon for every stupid action you have so far indulged in," he added.

"In this corruption-dominated country, our judiciary is the only protection. Do not destroy it or weaken it," Mr. Jethmalani said.
