Ramboda Falls in the central highlands of Sri Lanka are stunning
In Sri Lanka's central province, Ramboda Falls are one of most visited tourist site. The tourists who visit Colombo and Kandy invariably visit and spend time to admire the spectacular falls and explore the rich flora around it. The reason being that this water fall is 109 m in height, informed my kin who have visited the falls.

"We planned a 12-hour tour including to-and-fro journey period from Kandy. This required 7 am to 7 pm trip to the highlands tour for visiting tea gardens, the falls and the lake. The place is good for leisurely walks and nature photography," informed the kin while mentioning about the Ramboada road Tunnel which is currently the longest road tunnel in the country.

The falls can be reached by road alone, which are situated in the lush green Pussellawa area and is formed by Panna Oya tributary of Kothmale Oya River. Since the altitude of the falls is 945 m above sea level, you can feel coolness of the place. The middle part of the Ramboda Falls is visible from the highway itself. But, the best view is from a bridge close to the falls which requires some walking.

Often tourists combine the visit to the falls with a tour of UNESCO-protected Central Highlands of Sri Lanka from Kandy. On way to the falls you can visit tea estates and have a look at exotic flora in cool mountain climate. One can have good look on gushing rapids, country side and lush greenery.

The conducted tours also take you to the tea production units. However, tourists prefer to sample the tea varieties at the Nuwara Eliya tea factory. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a leisurely visit to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Also, many tourists spend some time at a lake in the area before driving back to Kandy.

It is held that Ramboda is the area where the forces of Lord Rama had gathered to fight the war against King Ravana. There is a Hanumana Temple built by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka which is visited by Indian tourists. The temple complex houses a 16-feet high statue of a Hindu deity.
