RAMESH KUMAR, an unsung wrestler did what Olympic Bronze medalist Sushil Kumar failed to do, he instantly became hero by winning Bronze at the prestigious World Wrestling Championship on Wednesday (September 23), which is being played in Herning, Denmark.

By winning Bronze at the prestigious event, he also broke India’s long unfortunate jinx at the World Wrestling Championship, he is the first Indian Grappler ever to have won any medal at the World Wrestling Championship in the last 32 years.

Enroute to the Bronze Medal, the 27-year-old wrestler trounced Dustin Schalatter of the America 3-2, Michael Grundy of the UK 4-2 and in the quarter finale he overcame Bulagarian grappler Kiri Terziev 7-4 but lost the all important semifinal bout to Chamsulvarayev of Azerbaizan 0-3.

Earlier Beijing Olympic Bronze medalist Sushil Kumar lost his bout for Bronze medal in the 66 kg freestyle to Japanese wrestler Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu.
