Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor have rejected the offer to act in Tigmanshu Dhulia's film 'Begum Samru,' as it requires the lead actress to indulge in a lot of skin show. Rani Mukherjee, who is rumored to get married to the Yash Raj heir Aditya Chopra next year and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is married to Saif Ali Khan is not comfortable with the skin show.
As was reported by nnis, the well known director who has tasted success with films such as Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb Biwi and Gangster is said to be looking out for an international face for the movie. Agreeing to the fact that the film needs too much skin show for a leading Indian actor is quite comfortable to work with an international actress. When asked, the director said, “The role requires a lot of body exposure from its heroine. Rani loved the script but declined because of nudity. Kareena, too, said no for the same reason.”
Rani Mukherjee, whose last film Aiyyaa tanked in the box office might have been able to revive her career with this film but as reasons specified, she seems to want a correct film to relaunch her career. Kareena Kapoor on the other hand, is busy with her present commitments.
Begum Samru was a historical figure, who started off as Nautch girl in the 18 century and later went on to become a begum of a princely state near Meerut. It should be an interesting story and given Dhulia's reputation, the film has a bright future, only if the role of the protagonist gets a strong face.
