Ranjib Biswal, the newly appointed chairman of NCA, has strong ambitions for Indian cricket. His experience as an Indian selector will put him in good position as head of the NCA.
RANJIB BISWAL, a former Junior Indian cricketer has been involved with the game for a long time. He has been at various administrative positions in Indian cricket, including being a East Zone selector, under the chairmanship of Kiran More and also under Dilip Vengersakar. He was the vice-chairman of the prestigious National Cricket Academy, now and the BCCI has promoted him as the chairman of the NCA, which reflects BCCI's faith in the former selector.
He is aware of the task at hand. While speaking to nnis, he said, "Over the last 8 years I have been with the Indian cricket team in different capacities. I know these boys. I know them, as selectors I have seen some youngsters who are playing cricket right now.” He also added that they have to find more and more cricketers to play for India
to be used as a bench strength for India. Biswal's experience in different administrative positions is going to help the team.
There are instances when various players are injured on a tour midway so bench strength plays a very important role for any team that intends to do well against top sides in the world. It is due to this bench strength that players gain experience by replacing cricketers, and in the process, get a taste of what big international matches are all about. These youngsters are the future of India who need to be properly groomed for the future. When players such as Sehwag, Tendulkar, and Dhoni retire, there needs to be enough talent ready to take the spot of experienced hands.
When asked about the NCA, he said, “When cricketers need assistance for injuries, technical flaws, they will come to NCA, and get some of the best coaches and physios, who can help them to make their cricket much better.” For instance, after Yuvraj returned to India, post his cancer treatment, it was the team involved in NCA that worked with him and brought him back to shape. The results are for everyone to see, as Yuvraj has been doing quite well in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
