Rape of 4-year-old girl by 14-year-old boy - a wake-up call

After corruption, rape incidents have hogged the headlines in the country in the recent past. Almost everyone condemned such incidents, but it seems that time have come to move beyond condemnations. Rape of a four-year-old girl by a 14-year-old boy in Haryana's Panipat district is a wake up call for everyone.

WHILE RECENTLY a Kerela minor girl of eighth standard recounted the horrors of being raped for two years by father, uncle and brother; another equally disgusting case came to the forefront as a 14-year-old boy allegedly raped a four-year-old girl in Dahar village in Israna block of Panipat district.

Parents of the girl made the allegations against the boy who lives in their neighborhood and is known to the child as well. They reported the matter on Tuesday to the police after which the boy was sent to a Bal Sudhar Ghar.

The parents reported that the incident happened on Monday when the little girl was on her way to her grandmother's house and the boy took her inside his house and allegedly raped her. The SHO has taken the report of the parents and samples from the girl have been taken for forensic test, but if this is true then everyone must start thinking as to what drove the boy to such an act.

What is driving the youth of the nation towards performing such heinous crimes is a big question. In spite of all the awareness why isn't the mentality of the people changing? A class eight student should be engrossed in his daily dose of playing, homework and assignments, at least that is what the general idea is, then what kind of influence is leading to such acts. It is time for parents to instill the correct thoughts in their children so that such disgusting incidents do not take place in future.
