The Tata group is looking for a chairman to succeed the legendary Ratan Tata, who has been at the helm of affairs for almost two decades. Tata is credited with reorganising the Tata group and bringing it on a global stage.
Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata group is getting ready for retirement and if reports are to be believed the business leader has also initiated search for a successor. And if the grapevine is to be believed then the next chariman of the Tata group can also be a foreigner.
Both local and foreign candidates are being sized up to head the legendary Tata group, which owns brands such as Tata Motors, TCS, Tata Steel and many more. It would be difficult to find a successor to Ratan Tata as he is credited for reorganising the entire Tata empire and giving it a global foot print and scale in the last twenty years.
Ratan Tata has been responsible for acquisiton of Corus, which put Tata Steel into the league of major steel producers. However, his most enduring legacy would be the launch of Tata Nano, the world's cheapest cars. In an interview, Ratan Tata said that they have started a process to formalise a successor for him. He said that he expected that new chairman would be able to carry on the growth in the company. The Tata chairman also said that the incumbent could also be from outside India as a lot of Tata revenue comes from abroad.
