Ravi Shastri: The new stylish boss of Indian cricket
As expected, the BCCI has finally decided to hand over the command of the Indian national cricket team to the one and the only, stylish former all-rounder, Ravi Shastri.

Previously, he also served as the Team Director of the Indian cricket team from 2014 to 2016.

His selection was very much on the cards. Reason being not only his experience, exposure and excellent equation with most of the members of the current Indian squad, but also his splendid relations with Board officials, media and members of the ICC.

His stature as a versatile cricket commentator and his cosiness with vibrant Indian captain Virat Kohli also helped him secure the job. Although, he has his own aura, but given the strong position held by Virat Kohli, it was imperative that the new head coach shared a good rapport with the Indian skipper.

Unlike Kumble, Shastri is known for offering his blunt views upfront without hesitation. Also, Shastri is capable of dealing with any given situation in a rather diplomatic way as he knows the intricacies of the functioning of the BCCI.

Since he has been associated with Team India in one way or another for the last two decades, he is well aware of the strengths and weakness of the squad –a must for a coach. He knows the playing conditions of almost all the prominent grounds located across the world.

Here's a look at Ravi Shastri's record as Indian Team Director:

In Tests: Matches 8, won 5, lost 1, drawn 2.

In ODIs: Matches 16, won 7, lost 9.

In T20Is: Matches 20, won 14, lost 6.
