Reading and writing habits are foundations of great journalistic minds, suggest discussions at "Media Academics and Industry Interface" programme
The Department of Mass Communication of the School of Creative Art, Design and Media Studies, Sharda University, Greater Noida in UP, conducted a five-day Faculty Development Programme on "Media Academics and Industry Interface" from 4th June to 8th June, informed the organizers of the event.

In the programme conducted for the faculty of journalism and mass communication, the participants were exposed to the latest trends in the news and media industry as it has undergone drastic transformation in recent time, specifically, in the wake of digital revolution.

The disconnect between journalism education and the media industry leading to inability of the journalism schools to produce industry-ready professionals was also discussed.

The programme suggested the new bridges between the media academics and the industry so that the journalism schools equip themselves to produce industry-ready professionals and also sensitize the industry about academics that addresses core concepts and ideals of journalism which at time may not be in conformity of the kind of professionals that the industry requires, report the event organizers.

This programme facilitated better understanding between media academics and the industry and sharing their respective perspectives on journalism education and practice.

The discussions at the event highlighted the importance of reading and writing habits as foundations of great journalistic minds. It was stressed upon that development of quality content is the first challenge and new technology provides numerous options of delivery.
