Reading session of book 'Gustakhi Maaf Haryana' held in Gurugram
On Thursday, Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurugram, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Public Administration, organised a reading session of noted journalist and author Pawan Kumar Bansal's book on governance and politics of Haryana titled 'Gustakhi Maaf Haryana' at the institute's auditorium.

The author spoke for an hour about the misuse of the Land Acquisition Act for benefiting the builders along with other issues.

Bansal had last year addressed a gathering of HCS trainees at the same venue.

"The Union Government and State Governments should formulate a comprehensive policy to check the misuse of provisions of Land Acquisition Act for releasing the land after issuance of notices under Sections 4 and 6 of the act for acquisition of land," Bansal observed.

While welcoming the author, the Director General of HIPA, G Prasanna Kumar said that the people of Haryana are very witty and they have the rare quality of laughing at themselves. He further said that the book reading sessions would be made regular feature organized under the aegis of Book Club HIPA.

While reading extracts from the book 'Gustakhi Maaf Haryana', author Pawan Kumar Bansal dwelt at length on how a farmer's land was looted by misusing the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act in Haryana. The book also highlights Haryana's politics of corruption, defection, casteism, floor crossing, Bharat darshan, aaya ram gaya ram phenomena and the style of functioning of variousformer chief ministers of Haryana since its inception as a separate state in 1966. The book covers all major happenings of Haryana.

The author of two other books namely 'Haryana Ke Lalo Ke Sabrang Kisse' and 'Tips for Investigative Journalism', Bansal said that the book shows the real picture of politicians of Haryana, cutting across party lines and exposes them on how they hoodwink the people by making false promises to win the elections. The book also highlights the humorous aspect of Haryana's famous Lals - Devi Lal, Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal.

The Chairman of Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority Gurugram Bench, Dr KK Khandelwal and Chief Executive Officer of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) V Umashakar were also present on the occasion. The former Haryana Chief Secretary, MC Gupta presided over the book reading session.

The complainant in the Manesar land acquisition scam case Om Prakash Yadav; well known RTI activist and crusader Harinder Dhingra; and Om Kataria also deliberated in the session.

A number of prominent academicians, writers and poets also participated in the reading session.
