Dalai Lama also said that the growing interest in Buddhism in the world today, is partly because of the unique Buddhist tradition of utilizing our intelligence to transform our destructive emotions. Everyone has the right to pursue happiness but finding that proper method or antidote is necessary. Drugs and tranquilizers are just temporary solutions, he said.
On the other hand, Lobsang Sangay, Prime Minister of Tibetan Government in-exile on Thursday strongly criticized the China and alleged it has adopted double standards in terms of freedom to Tibet. China has already freed Hong Kong and Macau and is all set to free Taiwan. China, which has neither constitutional nor practical hurdles in terms of Tibet, is adopting double standards regarding its freedom, Sangay alleged.
Sangay said since January 2010 no dialogue had taken place with China for the purpose and all efforts initiated by Tibet went in vain. We are ready anywhere and anytime for dialogue with China for Tibet’s freedom, he stressed. Tibet would get its freedom adhering to the path of non-violence shown by Lord Buddha and through dialogue, he observed.
The Tibetan Prime Minister blamed China for constantly destroying Tibet’s natural resources. Large-scale deforestation has been engineered by China in Tibet in the name of road construction and other development, posing a great threat to the environment of the country and the world, he informed.
He said ten prime rivers of the world originated from Tibet and China was constructing dams on several major rivers, including the Brahmaputra and Indus. Disclosing the intention of China, he said it was trying to turn the course of the rivers towards its own country and the move would be dangerous for India, Bangladesh and other Asian countries. Those living on the banks of the rivers would face severe agricultural problem, he added. Sangay said several Tibetans residing in India were eager to return to their country but were scared of Chinese atrocities .
