An RTI petition revealed that a CMD for some months got issued 121 free air-passes by virtue of including 'spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters, son-in-law, daughter-in-law' in definition of family-members for purpose of free air-travel.
IT WAS interesting and shocking too that an RTI petition on over-expenditure by Air India management led to a series of more RTI petitions with clues coming from insiders to reveal how big scandals in Air India are created deliberately for personal gains of people on top. A media-report led to an RTI petition revealing that a CMD for some months got issued 121 free air-passes by virtue of including ‘spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters, son-in-law, daughter-in-law’ in definition of family-members for purpose of free air-travel.
During processing of the RTI petition, an insider sent an anonymous letter giving clue for another RTI petition, which revealed that the national carrier had to suffer a loss of 350000 British Pounds for terminating a contract for simulator training programme.
Processing of the second RTI petition led to yet another RTI petition through an anonymous call, which revealed that Air India had to suffer a loss of rupees 130 crore in ‘Carib-Jet’ scandal for no fault of Air India because the law-firm drafting the agreement with firm (Carib-Jet) leasing defective planes to Air India, did not have any exit-clause for Air India in case leased planes were not air-worthy. According to the person giving clue, Carib-Jet scandal was deliberately planned.
