One of the biggest transfer saga of the season has come to an end with Real Madrid making it official about signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur with six years contract. Bale joined Real Madrid for a record deal - £85.3 million ($132 million).
"I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date," Bale said in a statement published on the Tottenham website. "I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true,” reported Times of India.
It may be a dream move for Bale, but Real Madrid fans would aso feel the same as Bale will strengthen their attacking line, which comprises of a number of quality players including Cristiano Ronaldo who also joined for a record fee then from Manchester United in 2009. Bale broke the world
record for the most expensive player as well, after eclipsing Cristiano Ronaldo's record deal worth £80million.
Though, it is not certain as to what kind of formation would Real Madrid adopt to fit Bale. There are chances that Ronaldo could be given the sole responsibility of leading the Real attack, in order to allow Bale flourish. But, if this happens, Real's current striker Benzema could be left on the bench, which the Frenchman would not like. Hence, there are possibilities of striker finding a new club as well with Arsenal showing interest.
With the transfer window closing down today, one can expect a busy 24 hours with many a teams looking to fill the void in their squad. It would not be surprising if few attacking players of Real Madrid such as Benzema, Mesut Ozil, Angel di Maria switch clubs at the last hour, as rumoured for the past many days.
