Reality shows are the rage these days. Children and adults both enjoy such shows. But why they have become successful vehicles of entertainment still remains a mystery. There also questions of reliability and credibility attached to them.

When the auditions take places people rush and start forming long queues from midnight. The shortcut to stardom has made people blind while some are eligible the others come to make fun of their selves to be on idiot box. No wonder they are the ones who add up to the TRPs and audience interest. Contestants are even scripted to make some controversies. At times one feels taking pity on some contenders on whom judges humiliate by saying something very inhumane. Only a handful number of contestants are able to become a hit on the screen after going through all sorts of eligibility rounds. The validity and reliability of the shows always remains a big question for most of the audiences. The contenders who are of actual potential lose in the very first round. While there are others who are less eligible but survive to the end and stand fit in terms of Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest.
Blame it on all sorts of audience polls and votes, there can be people whose relatives and friends watching them are worthy of making them win by sending ample amount of votes on a daily basis. They are more of audience participation programs than of participants of the show. Ask people and they will tell you there is nothing like a final round going live as its all recorded anyway. Who is going to check out the video tape? In most of the shows the strongest contender is always the first to be voted out. How is it possible? This shortcut to stardom has encouraged many parents to get their wards admitted in some sort of dancing, acting and singing classes. In this rat race of talent shows, it's quite possible their ward could be the next sensation. People, just do not run but think before you leap. A couple of days ago I came to know the results a week before the show had to be on air through some of my sources. Can't say about others but I can never trust the winning decision of any reality show.
A famous English daily has quoted some of the famous singers saying that if they ever wanted to become a singer in today's times, it could not have been possible for them. While others said that now it’s easier to showcase one's talent. Reality show winners often disappear, as shortcuts always count for short period of success. The really talented people never become a part of these shows. They know their success can't come through a shortcut. The reality behind reality shows will always remain a mystery!
